Meia-Nau Porto
Description
The concept of Meia-Nau was born from the idea of recreating the deep connection between the Portuguese and the sea.
Inspired by the old trawlers, the mid-ship vessels that crossed the Atlantic in search of the freshest fish, we wanted to bring that same dedication, simplicity, and authenticity to dry land.

I went right when they opened at 7, lining up like it was an opening run, and it turned out to be the best octopus dish I’ve ever had. It was incredibly tender with a nice smoky, grilled flavor. The seafood rice was also delicious, and the green wine made the whole meal even more satisfying.

Delicious sea food. Excellent service. Nice environment.
We ate the shrimp croquettes entree, then the squid and shrimp feijoada as main course, and we finished our feast with a sort of creme brulee Portuguese style. We paired the meal with a refreshing sangria. We don’t hesitate to recommend this great peixe restaurant at the heart of the Cedofeita neighborhood in Porto.
A heartfelt thank you to the whole Meia-Nau staff for making our lunch experience memorable.

The hotel we stay is 2 minutes walking distance away from the restaurant and we had been there three times!
The fish soup and seafood rice are delicious, the grilled green peppers are tasty too. The staff is friendly and courteous.
We have enjoyed our experiences there very much, three times!

We first tried to go to sister restaurant Mare by Meia-Nau, but there was a big line and it doesn’t take reservations. So we reserved at Meia-Nau (reservations required). The menu is extensive and the decor is nice. The food was good but not exceptional for the price. We had the grilled sardines, the fish soup and the seafood rice. The soup was good but small, the seafood in the rice was overcooked and the sardines weren’t as good as others we had in Porto. Service was average. The highlight was the fondant cake for dessert, which takes 20 mins to prepare. The cake was decadent with a rich caramel flavor and served hot right from the oven. Overall, I believe there is better seafood in Porto.
